The American Hip Institute is open for virtual appointments and critical clinic appointments.
Updated May 11, 2020
American Hip Institute, in unison with the CDC and other governmental agencies, is committed to providing our patients with the highest quality care while supporting social distancing and protective measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The health and safety of our patients, employees and their families is our highest priority.
We have been following federal and state guidelines regarding elective surgeries as the COVID-19 crisis continues. Based on this guidance, we have resumed elective procedures and are currently working on the backlog of cases. Due to the extra precautionary measures in place, the volumes of cases are reduced at each of the facilities we do surgery at. We are in the process of reaching out to our patients to discuss scheduling options. Please anticipate a call from our care team, and thank you for your patience as we work with the facilities to prioritize our most urgent patients.
The following measures are in place to ensure the safety of our patients:
- All American Hip Institute patients are required to have COVID19 testing within 72 hours prior to surgery and then self-isolate until the day of surgery.
- All physicians and other care givers at the surgical facilities wear N95 masks
- The operating room airflow ventilation is as per CDC recommendations to clear any potential viral particles
- Family / friends will be asked to stay outside of facility during surgical procedures to limit inside exposure
Our office remains open and operating on a spaced out schedule to provide critical in-person care and pre-operative appointments to our patients. We continue to care for our non-critical and physical therapy patients via a telehealth platform.
Telehealth visits allow a patient to be cared for by our physicians and providers through video and audio technology and are available for our clinic patients as well as our physical therapy patients. These visits are easy to schedule. Just call our regular office number at 833-872-4477 to set one up. You will then receive an email or text with a link that you can utilize from either a computer, smart phone or tablet.
A modified stay at home order issued by Governor Pritzker requires all persons to wear a face mask or face covering when in a public setting. We, therefore, are requiring all patients to wear one upon entering the office.
We are asking our patients NOT to present to our office if you are feeling unwell, have a fever, cough, shortness of breath or have come in contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 virus. Please contact us to reschedule your appointment. We will also be screening all patients upon entry and are asking that patients over age 18 do not bring a visitor with them into our suite.
Extra Precautionary Measures
Sanitizing and keeping our clinic clean are always top of mind with our team; however, we are being extra vigilant during this time and wiping down surfaces more frequently. We are asking our patients to sit a minimum of six feet apart while in the waiting rooms. Our team is expediting the movement from the waiting rooms to the exam rooms to limit the amount of time in this area.
We Appreciate your Cooperation and Understanding
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we join forces for the protection of our patients and staff. We hope you have extra confidence in American Hip Institute as we expand our health and safety measures during this time while continuing to provide care to our patients.
The COVID-19 situation is fluid and we will be updating this page as the situation continues to evolve.
