I definitely came to the right team for my complex hip procedure

"After having a back surgery several years ago, the pain I was experiencing persisted, but I was unsure why. As the pain worsened, my neurosurgeon informed me that I could either undergo another back surgery or address the root of the problem, which was believed to be my hip. Eventually, about a year ago, I was hospitalized and treated for necrotizing fasciitis around my right hip, which left me very concerned about the long-term condition of my hip.

At this point, my day-to-day function was awful. I needed to use a walker or cane at all times, and walking was extremely painful.

After doing some research online on the best hip surgeons in Illinois, I came across the American Hip Institute. I decided to make the 2.5-hour drive to meet the American Hip Institute team. After having my initial consultation, I was comfortable learning that the team was very experienced with complex cases like mine.

Because of my complex history, I was terrified leading up to surgery. However, the team made sure everything went smoothly, both from an orthopedic and infectious disease perspective. After surgery, the first week of recovery was demanding. In the following weeks I progressed very quickly, and I am happy to be back to work teaching without the need for a cane! I have been able to get back on track with my fitness goals by riding my stationary bike, and soon, I hope to also get back to swimming.

I feel very comfortable that the American Hip Institute team is handling my care. They have always been very accommodating and address all of my concerns. The clinic team has always answered my questions as quickly as possible. I am so happy I made the trip to be treated by the American Hip Institute team!"
