Background
Labral base repair (LBR) aims to restore the labral suction seal and joint stability. While short-term results are favorable, midterm durability remains underreported.
Methods
60 patients (64 hips) who underwent LBR with hip arthroscopy were followed for ≥5 years. Patients with advanced arthritis, dysplasia, or previous surgery were excluded. PROs (mHHS, NAHS, HOS-SSS), VAS, and satisfaction were assessed.
Key Findings
All scores improved significantly from baseline and were maintained from 2 to 5 years post-op. The mean satisfaction was 8.1/10. Survivorship was 90.6%, with 17.2% requiring additional procedures.
Conclusions
Arthroscopic LBR provides sustained clinical improvements over 5 years with high satisfaction and a low rate of progression to arthroplasty.
What Does This Mean for Patients
Patients undergoing LBR can expect durable functional improvement and pain relief with good long-term outcomes, though some may require future revision or conversion procedures.
