Hip Arthroscopy

What is Hip Arthroscopy?
Hip arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgery option that involves inserting a small fiber-optic instrument called an arthroscope into the hip joint to diagnose and treat damage at the same time. Compared to traditional open hip surgery, arthroscopy offers several benefits, including smaller incisions, reduced trauma to surrounding tissues, less pain, quicker recovery, a lower risk of infection, minimal scarring, earlier mobilization, and shorter hospital stays.

What Conditions are Hip Arthroscopy Indicated For?
Hip arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique used to diagnose and treat a wide range of hip conditions. It can be used to:
- Remove torn cartilage, bone fragments, or loose bodies that cause pain and limit mobility
- Repair a torn labrum, reshape the femur or acetabulum to treat femoroacetabular impingement
- Repair of torn ligaments, and the removal of bone spurs or abnormal bone growth
- Remove inflamed synovial tissue in cases of inflammatory arthritis
- Diagnose the cause of persistent hip pain or stiffness.

MLS Soccer player, Chris M., Returns to Play in 5 Months
It took me probably 5 months to be back on the field with my cleats, aside from all the recovery I was doing beforehand. Now I am back on the field, it has been 7 months post op and I feel great. I do not have any of the same pains that I had before while I was playing.
