Purpose
To evaluate outcomes of a specific labral base repair suture technique for treating labral tears and pincer-type femoroacetabular impingement.
Methods
Patients undergoing arthroscopic labral base repair were studied over an average of 2.4 years. Outcomes measured included several PROs, VAS for pain, and patient satisfaction. Exclusions included arthritis grade ≥2, Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, or different suture techniques.
Key Findings
- Significant improvement in all PROs and pain levels (VAS reduced from 6.5 to 2.3).
- 85.2% of patients achieved good or excellent results.
- No major complications were reported.
- 5.6% required revision surgery, 3.7% required hip replacement.
Conclusion
The labral base repair technique led to favorable results with improved function, pain relief, and high satisfaction.
What This Means for Patients
This technique may offer a reliable surgical option for patients with specific types of labral tears, with good pain relief and high success rates.
