Purpose

To present outcomes of Ligamentum Teres (LT) reconstruction in patients with hip instability related to connective tissue disorders and generalized ligamentous laxity.

Methods

Four patients underwent LT reconstruction with an average 21.4 months follow-up. Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) were collected at 3, 12, and 24 months. Radiographic and clinical data were recorded.

Key Findings

Three out of four patients showed improvement in PROs. One patient had graft failure on one side despite improvement on the other. No complications were reported.

Conclusions

LT reconstruction with capsular plication may improve outcomes in patients with hip instability and full-thickness LT tears associated with ligamentous laxity, but predictive factors need further study.

What this means for patients

Patients with connective tissue disorders causing hip instability might benefit from LT reconstruction surgery, improving hip stability and function.
