Background
This study evaluates the outcomes and rates of return to golf among recreational golfers undergoing hip arthroscopy for labral tears.
Methods
Data were collected prospectively for 49 patients undergoing hip arthroscopy between 2008 and 2015. Inclusion required preoperative and minimum 2-year postoperative follow-up with outcomes assessed using patient-reported scores.
Key Findings
90% of golfers returned to playing golf after surgery. Significant improvements in all PROs and VAS scores were noted at follow-up.
Conclusions
Hip arthroscopy leads to excellent outcomes for recreational golfers, with a high rate of return to play after surgery for labral tears.
What Does This Mean for Patients
For recreational golfers with labral tears, hip arthroscopy offers a high chance of returning to sport with significant functional improvement.
