Position: MA Supervisor Job Description

Pay: $25.00 - $38.00 per hour

Job description:

The Medical Assistant Supervisor provides both hands-on clinical support and day-to-day leadership for the clinic team (Medical Assistants, ATCs and Xray techs). This role supports providers, ensures efficient clinic operations, and promotes a high-quality patient experience while serving as a point of guidance for MA staff.

Hours:

Our patient schedule starts at 7:00am daily. The Medical Assistant Supervisor must be available to start at 7:00am on assigned days and will rotate shifts in alignment with clinic needs.

Responsibilities: 

Clinic Coverage & Patient Support

  • Greet and prepare patients for provider or imaging exams, recording intake information and providing appropriate gowns, shorts, etc.
  • Document accurately and efficiently in the EMR.
  • Perform administrative duties, including responding to patient phone notes, providing information per established protocols, and serving as a liaison between patients and providers.
  • Complete FMLA and disability paperwork.
  • Maintain exam room supply stock and ensure exam rooms are cleaned and disinfected between patients.
  • Prepare and sterilize medical instruments; clean and disinfect medical equipment.
  • Monitor patient flow and communicate delays or issues proactively.
  • Provide cross coverage as assigned, including rooming patients when Medical Assistants (MAs) are out.
  • Perform other duties in support of providers, staff, and leadership.

Patient Care

  • Perform patient care duties as trained and directed by providers, including removal of wound dressings, sutures, or staples
  • Perform specimen collection, preparation, and documentation according to proper procedures, including venipuncture.

Supervisory & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Serve as day-to-day leader and resource for Medical Assistant staff.
  • Assist with training, coaching, onboarding, and mentoring of new and existing MAs.
  • Support scheduling, clinic coverage coordination, and workflow optimization, including staff scheduling, timecard approval, and filling operational gaps.
  • Delegate daily work assignments and ensure clinic priorities are met.
  • Participate in new MA screenings and interviewing.
  • Evaluate work, monitor performance metrics, and support process improvements.
  • Conduct quarterly one-on-one meetings and annual performance reviews.
  • Promote consistency in clinical processes, documentation standards, and workflow efficiencies.
  • Model professionalism, teamwork, and a high level of patient service.

Education, Experience, and Certification/Licensure Required

  • High School Diploma required
  • CMA or RMA certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience required
  • Prior lead, trainer, or supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Customer service experience required
  • CPR certification required and maintained
  • Orthopedic experience preferred but not required
